Revolver Bound Books and Journals (via RevolverNYC)

It looks kind of cool, but the paper quality looks cheap and thin.

I’ve seen tons of online Flash based drawing applications, but Odosketch has got to be the most beautifully executed I’ve ever seen, and it’s FREE.

You don’t have to create an account to try it out, but if you want to save your drawings for later you going to have to make an account. Good thing the sign up is dead simple.

I really like the featured sketches on the homepage, when you click on them it takes you to a page where you get to see how they were drawn. I only wish I could fast forward through them.

You totally need to check it out for yourself. Odosketch

Handmade: Jazzed About Life by Dan Meth

I’ve known Dan Meth for a few years and I was always fascinated with his hand made sketchbooks. Dan explains:

Years ago I left a nearly filled up sketchbook on a bench in Rhode Island and it made me so depressed. I had spent almost 5 months filling it up with drawings and then WHOOSH…. gone forever. I decided to start making smaller sketchbooks that I had only 30 days to draw in before I started a new one. That way, if I lost it… no big deal.

So I started gathering together whatever paper was around. Junk mail, printer errors, paper that wasn’t going to get recycled. Anything. Staple it all together with a cut-up cereal box for the cover.

I soon found that not only was I less concerned about losing it, but I was less concerned with how good my drawings inside it were. And that made me draw better, more free, and much funnier. Also, the fact that there was already random images and text on the paper gave me all kinds of inspiration and ideas.

I call it my monthly magazine: Jazzed About Life. It’s a magazine that make no sense and that’s just fine with me. It’s a wild experiment that is liberating from the world of internet cartoons in which I strive to make everyone laugh. With Jazzed About Life I’m strictly concerned with making myself laugh.

I was listening to one of my favorite bands on my iTunes not too long ago, Brand New, and decided to Google then, just for the hell of it…. and this is what I found.
The Brand New Sketchbook
It’s a small inspirational sketchbook for mainly designers interested in logo design. Personally, I think anyone could use these awesome sketchbooks that resemble Moleskin brand books. Apparently, where ever they were made, currently are sold out… but when you look at the web site, you can view the beautiful craftsmanship from cover to cover.
Highlights of The Brand New Sketchbook:
Sturdy chipboard cover
32 pages of 70 lb. text white paper
3.5 in. x 5 in.
30 quotes in tiny 5 pt. type
check them out here

I’m a huge fan of Bristol and Illustration Board by Strathmore.
Whenever there is a special occasion that calls for a gift, such as a card, I use bristol board to create a Sarah original card. Bristol board is tough, durable, and semi-thick paper that is perfect for making cards. I use the smooth surface board because it works best with ink, pencil, and pen. Vellum surface Bristol Board has more of a rough texture, making it useful for charcoal, pencil and pastel.
Bristol board comes in different sizes, surfaces, and weights. Check them out here!
